چکیده

This paper studies a solution concept for large stochastic games. A standard solution concept for a stochastic game is Markov perfect equilibrium (MPE). In MPE, each player’s optimal action depends on his own state and the state of the other players. By contrast, oblivious equilibrium (OE) is an approximation introduced in [5] where each player makes decisions based on his own state and the “average” state of the other players. For this reason OE is computationally more tractable than MPE. It was shown in [5] that as the number of players becomes large, OE closely approximates MPE; however, this result was established under a set of assumptions specific to industry dynamic models. In this paper we develop a parsimonious set of assumptions under which the result of [5] can be generalized to a broader class of stochastic games with a large number of players.

Monetary and Fiscal Policy Interaction in Iran: A Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium Approach

Achieving the goals of price stability, sustainable economic growth, and the improvement of many economic variables require coordination between the monetary and financial authorities. In this study, a new modified Keynesian stochastic dynamic equilibrium general equilibrium model is introduced for Iran and in the framework of game theory, optimal policy of fiscal and monetary authorities are d...

Uniqueness of Oblivious Equilibrium in Dynamic Discrete Games∗

The recently introduced concept of oblivious equilibrium aims at approximating Markov-Perfect Nash Equilibria (MPNE) when its calculation is computationally prohibitive in Ericson-Pakes-style games with many players. This paper examines and extends the oblivious equilibrium concept to dynamic discrete choice games. We consider a set of assumptions commonly posed in the applied dynamic games lit...

Hidden Stochastic Games and Limit Equilibrium Payoffs

We consider 2-player stochastic games with perfectly observed actions, and study the limit, as the discount factor goes to one, of the equilibrium payoffs set. In the usual setup where current states are observed by the players, we show that the set of stationary equilibrium payoffs always converges, and provide a simple example where the set of equilibrium payoffs has no limit. We then introdu...

Long-run behavior of games with many players

We discuss similarities and differencies between systems of many interacting players maximizing their individual payoffs and particles minimizing their interaction energy. We analyze long-run behavior of stochastic dynamics of many interacting agents in spatial and adaptive population games. We review results concerning the effect of the number of players and the noise level on the stochastic s...

Noisy mean field stochastic games with network applications

We consider a class of stochastic games with finite number of resource states, individual states and actions per states. At each stage, a random set of players interact. The states and the actions of all the interacting players determine together the instantaneous payoffs and the transitions to the next states. We study the convergence of the stochastic game with variable set of interacting pla...
